Neil Adams took a squad of 18 players plus four staff north of the border to Scotland for a pre-season training camp based at Stirling University. Two friendly matches were also played during their stay.

On Saturday 14th July the squad travelled to the University of Glasgow Science Park (Kelvin Campus) to take on Kilmarnock Under-19s. The City youngsters ran out 5–2 winners following a 3-1 half-time lead. Jacob Murphy caused the hosts plenty of problems, scoring the first goal on four minutes as well as winning a penalty in each half.

City Starting Line-Up: Hammann (46. Horlock), Wyatt, McFadden, Morris, Norman (46. Barker), McGeehan, Josh Murphy, Jacob Murphy, Hall-Johnson, Clunan (44. Carroll),  Lokko.

Substitutions: Numerous substitutions from half-time. Michael Clunan substituted after injury (44.).

Goalscorers: Jacob Murphy (4.), Clunan (10.), McGeehan (21. pen.), Morris (55.), Carroll (90. pen.)

On Monday 16th July Airdrie FC’s Excelsior Stadium hosted the match on behalf of Hamilton Academicals (Under 17’s/18’s) whose pitch was not ready for the new season. City were made to fight hard for their 2–1 win, after trailing to a 75th minute set-piece goal, a double from Cameron King (on 82 and 85 minutes) secured the win for City.

City Line-Up:Hammann (46. Horlock), Barker (59. Norman), Wyatt, Hodd (46. McGeehan), McFadden, Lokko, Carroll (46. Josh Murphy), Randall (46. Jacob Murphy(81. Brown)), Morris (86. Randall), King, Brown (46. Hall-Johnson).

Both matches were played “behind closed doors” although this did not prevent approximately 45 people attending each match.
