It was a tale of two penalties for The Canaries at Colney on Saturday as moments after City midfielder Dean Florence missed his spot kick, Foxes striker Joe Dodoo converted at the other end to complete his hat trick and secure the visitors all three points.
Ricky Martin had to reshuffle the pack ahead of the game with injuries to Jamar Loza and Taylor McKenzie. The two Harrys, Barker and Toffolo were switched from their normal full back rolls into central defence allowing schoolboys Cameron Norman and Ben Wyatt to make their first start at this level.
City made a promising start but it was Leicester who almost opened the scoring on eight minutes with a sweetly taken free kick from Oliver Norburn but Remi Matthews made a superb fingertip save.
Sam Kelly tried his luck from distance but his effort was wide of the target, but moments later Norwich should have opened their account when Jacob Murphy raced onto a through ball but Adam Smith in the Foxes goal made a point blank save.
The pace of Murphy was causing the visitors all sorts of problems and on 15 minutes he raced onto a delightful ball from Kelly, this time he gave Smith no chance and slotted the ball home.
Their lead lasted all of two minutes before Leicester drew level when Dodoo beat Matthews with a low shot from the edge of the area after the Canaries failed to clear their lines.
Murphy almost restored the Canaries advantage but his shot was just wide of the target after some good build up play from Cameron McGeeham.
With just three minutes left of the first half Leicester ensured that they would go into the break a goal up when a free kick was headed back across the goal allowing Dodoo to volley the ball home.
It took Norwich just two minutes after the break to pull level when Murphy again left the Foxes defence for dead to score his second.
Smith had to be alert to pull off a save from the lively McGeehan, but from the resulting corner referee Mr. Goldsmith awarded Norwich a penalty for holding. Florence stepped up but he sent his effort high over the bar.
It proved to be a costly miss as on 71 minutes Mr. Goldsmith awarded Leicester a spot kick and Dodoo made no mistake sending Leicester back in front.
From the kick off the visitors were reduced to ten men when Louis Tambini was given a second yellow for a foul on Michael Clunan.
With a man advantage Norwich went all out for the equaliser but to their credit Leicester never gave the Canaries an inch and while they will be disappointed not to take something from the game they certainly played their part in an entertaining game.
