What is FONCY?

Our Formation

The idea to form Friends of Norwich City Youth, affectionately known as FONCY, came from Supporters Consultative Group Member, John Landamore. At a meeting on September 1996 it was agreed by the Supporters Consultative Group that John had the nucleus of a good idea and he was tasked with forming a committee and reporting to future Supporters Consultative Group meetings.

Our Purpose And Aims

Terms of reference were drawn up by the club, which are outlined below:

1. The Committee shall be led by Mr John Landamore who shall recruit its members, lead its discussions and report as and when necessary to Norwich City Football Club.

2. The object of FONCY shall be to encourage supporters to raise additional funds to be used exclusively to finance additional activity in the Youth Development of Norwich City Football Club by setting up and running an independent organisation to be known as FONCY.

The Committee

Once given the green (and yellow) light, John soon set to work in recruiting Officers - Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer, together with three Committee Members. A set of rules was drafted and the Committee set to work to raise funds for what was then the 'Youth Department' at Norwich City Football Club. Howard Wilkinson's vision into the future of Youth Football -  the Academy - was still a year off.
