Ricky Martin saw his side cruise into the fourth round of the FAYouth Cup with a resounding 5-0 victory over Oldham Athletic at Carrow Road.
Following on from their comfortable win against Ipswich on Saturday it was more of the same against Oldham who were on the back foot throughout the game.
It took them six minutes to open the scoring against Ipswich on Saturday and it took them just a minute longer to open their account last night when Reece Hall-Johnson ran onto a ball over the top and got the vital touch just to edge the ball over the line.
Sam Kelly forced Luke Simpson in the visitors’ goal into a good save while Jamar Loza saw an effort cleared for a corner, but with 25 minutes on the clock Norwich doubled their advantage when from a Michael Clunan corner Harry Barker sent a looping header into the far corner.
Loza fired into the side netting from a tight angle, while moments before the break Dean Florence saw a volley from the edge of the box well saved by Simpson.
Just three minutes into the second half and Loza fired a shot beyond the reach of Simpson, this coming after some good work down the left flank by Harry Toffolo.
Two minutes later and Loza scored his second and City’s fourth when he beat Simpson from the penalty spot.
On 54 minutes Hall-Johnson made a great run down the right wing and from a tight angle he fired the ball into the far corner.
At this point it looked like City were going to run up a cricket score but Oldham managed to shore up their defence and the Canaries looked content just to see the game out, although late in the game following a cross from Hall-Johnson Loza was just inches from completing his hat-trick.
